Project 52 - Week 25

One of my Project 52 projects is to educate myself, especially in politics and history. These subjects never seemed that important when I was younger, but now that we have an administration that seems hell-bent on turning us into a socialist country, those subjects now seem vitally important.

The only way we can prevent history from repeating itself is to be educated in these areas.

Freedom! (I always picture Mel Gibson in "Braveheart" when I say "freeeeee-dom"!) I love this speech, and if I did this correctly, you can listen and be inspired also.

Slight digression, there.

Truth and knowledge set us free. We owe it to ourselves and future generations to be as educated as possible.

We can educate ourselves in many ways. Formal education is an option. However, the cost of a college education is astounding, and the percentage of liberal professors is even more astounding. The cost of a college education is up over 900% since 1978.  Self education is another option, but not if you plan on getting a degree. The answer may lie in the third option, which is taking online college courses such as this one.

We all have busy lives, and one of the great things about online schooling, is the flexibility it offers. I'm not working on a degree, but online courses like this one  provide valuable resources that are attainable and affordable.

  1. You are so inspiring, Darlene! It's important to remain informed and interested throughout life and the older one gets, the more apparent it becomes how little we really know and how much there is to learn. Good for you for taking up the challenge to become more informed. It's so easy to say we don't have time, but in reality, we can make time to do anything we choose if we're really motivated. I take my hat off to you!

  2. I just saw a bit on the news that said after much study, it was determined that the cost of going to college does not pay off later! I guess this is not true in every case, but this is what was found overall in the majority.

  4. I am a new follower from the I Love My Online Friends Monday blog hop. I homeschool my son, and I find I am learning more than him, especially when it comes to history and politics. Good luck!

  8. Good for you! I believe that after this life we take with us the relationships that we've created and the things that we've learned. Education is never wasted. You're doing great with your goals.

  9. Hi Darlene,

Nice to meet you and thank you so much for visiting my site, especially becoming one of my followers. I really need to get back to posting again, but with the wittle wee ones living here it was almost impossible. But they moved out this past weekend and so as soon as we reorganize everything I will get back to posting. I have 5 blogsites that I have totally been ignoring and two I need to get back up and running from scratch again.

I really like your profile and being how I used to do political blogging on another blogsite, I totally like your views. I debate about going back to that but then I also need to get back to writing debate articles where I get paid to do them. It just takes a lot of time and the wee ones made it difficult to take the time needed.

I really enjoyed your squirrel video and how she outsmarted you two. We had a possum problem out here, the dang critters would sit on my patio and watch me and the TV. But then the neighbor got a Pit Bull and then we got a Pit Bull and the possums have been Pit Bulled. They don't eat them, they just kill them. Possums eat the food in your gardens and so I am happy they are gone.

Oh and I do like your book list, maybe someday I will start a Project 52 list for me, although I am so bad at following anything.

I like your postings and am glad to follow you.

    God bless.

  10. One thing people could do to educate themselves in history would be to look past the hollywood character concocted by Mel Gibson and research the real William Wallace, a true icon of Scotland who is still revered today as the symbol of Scottish independence. Look out for my upcoming post on this subject FREEDOM lol
