Almost (Never!) Wordless Wednesday

Waaay back in July, Hubby and I took a road trip out West, and I'm just now getting around to posting the second edition of photos for your (hopefully) viewing pleasure.  We stopped in Abilene, Kansas to go to the Dwight D. Eisenhower Museum. There is not much else to see in Abilene, Kansas. This definitely qualifies as "Small Town, USA."

Maime's inagural gown. She did not have designer gowns, but this one is quite beautiful

I always liked this picture, now it's a statue in the museum
Hmmmm, could this possibly be true?
If you eat at this restaurant....

... This is what you will be served.  Everybody gets the same thing! There were no complaints.

There are windmills as far as the eye can see in Kansas. I wonder how much electricity they produce!

Travelin' shoes

Tonight I find myself (along with Hubby, BIL and SIL) in Abilene, Kansas, the home of General Dwight D. Eisenhower. He was also President of the United States, but when he went  back into the private sector, he preferred to be called "General".  We visited the Eisenhower Museum, Library, and Home. It was quite interesting. Things have changed quite a bit from those times. Did you know that they had to pay for their food while at the White House? That was a surprising fact. That was before presidents were treated like royalty. They have forgotten that they work for us.

We then had supper at Brookville Hotel, and it was deeeelicious!!!!  They have one meal. Fried chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, creamed corn (fabulous), biscuits, cole slaw, cottage cheese, and relish plate.

We are leaving in the morning for Colorado Springs, Colorado, and hoping to enjoy a fireworks show there.
Pikes Peak is also on our list of things to see.

I'll have to wait to get back to post pictures.

Have a happy 4th of July, and remember, freedom is not free.
