Times They Are A Changin'"

No, your eyes are not playing tricks on you. I am actually posting a blog today.

Something has happened that took me by surprise. I got a part-time job. Hubby and I had been talking about this possibility for awhile, but I conveniently forgot about it the time just never seemed "right". My darling, awesome daughter, always trying to be helpful and overcompensating for my forgetfulness, did her best to let me know when she heard of someplace that was hiring. I always thanked her for her concern and then promptly forgot to do any follow-up on the matter. The thought of working out in public was absolutely terrifying to me. I'm a great "go-fer" for Hubby, but having to answer to someone other than Hubby? YIKES.

Well, not too long ago, Amazing Daughter was being her helpful self and told me they were hiring at the library. Darn it! That's actually something that I have experience doing. I worked as a substitute library aid in the school system while my kids were in school. I hemmed and hawed for a few days, then finally got up the courage to get an application. Then I hemmed and hawed for another few days until I got up the courage to fill it out. I had two applications so I could have one to practice on. Does that sound pitiful, or what? Its true. On the section where they ask why you are leaving your present job, I wrote that I was tired of being on ladders, figuring I had nothing to lose. Then I waited another few days to work up the courage to turn it in. I turned it in the day before the deadline.

Imagine my surprise when I got a call for an interview! Holy Moley! I have not been to an interview for over 15 years! Can we say "diarrhea"? Believe me, there was a lot of praying going on! I walked into the interview saying, "It's all up to you, God, if you want me to have this job." It went OK, and I was told I would hear from them one way or the other either Friday or Monday.

Friday came. No phone call. By Monday afternoon, still no phone call. I was on the ladder, finishing up painting our house, thinking that surely the "winner" would have been contacted by now, apparently this was not the job God wanted me to have, when my phone rang.

I was not expecting to hear the words I heard. "We would like to offer you the position, if you are still interested."  I was ready to say, "OK, thank you for calling."  Instead, I found myself accepting the position.

So, I have worked two days at my new job. I'm going to like it. However, it will be a cause for frustration. I've come across so many books that I would love to take a moment to browse through, but there is no time for that.

I'm also hoping that this will now give me the opportunity to now have some sort of routine in my life. And, if I have a routine, maybe, just maybe, I can get back to regular blogging, and regular visiting! I have truly missed stopping by and visiting.

Until next time,

  2. How lovely to see you here today! Well, congratulations! I think it was probably the pink feather boa that swung it for you. How exciting to be surrounded by all those books. Look forward to seeing you here again soon. We've missed you!

  3. So nice to hear from you and congratulations. I am thinking that I am going to have to get a part time job next year when I move to Atlanta. Just the thought of it scares me silly. I keep hoping my vintage business will pick up more :)

    Hugs,
